American
men
die at higher rates than women from the top 10 causes of death.
These include heart disease, cancer, stroke, HIV/AIDS,
injuries, suicide and homicide. Men, on average, die almost six
years sooner than women.
Women are twice as likely to visit the doctor
for annual examinations and preventive services than men.
To
combat these statistics, Tri-County Health Department provides
uninsured and underinsured men with health screenings and referrals
to additional care, if needed.
Services include free cholesterol screening, blood
pressure readings and blood sugar tests to qualifying men ages 40-64,
as well as referrals to agencies that provide follow-up care.
Men's
health services
are available in our Aurora, Castle Rock, Commerce City Englewood and
Northglenn offices. (Maps)
A limited number
of screenings are available. Appointments are required.
