Mold |

Indoor residential mold has been recognized as a public health hazard for some individuals. Most instances of elevated mold levels indoors in Colorado are traced directly to unique home construction techniques practiced here, such as structural wood subfloors coupled with inadequate drainage and ventilation of these underfloor spaces. In addition, ongoing and undetected water leaks from sinks, dishwashers, toilets and showers are common causes of elevated mold levels indoors. Tri-County Health Department provides sampling for mold, and has specific recommendations of when and when not to conduct air sampling. Tri-County Health Department has also established a task force with the Homebuilders Association of Metro Denver and local building inspection officials.
